"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." — E.B. White

Color my (bedroom) world

As I've now made clear, I'm really into color. That made me re-evaluate my cocoa brown n white bedroom... I painted it SW Portabella brown, added white matelasses duvet cover w/family linens and old sepia photos (quickly as I was overwhelmed w/a newborn and house sale + major DIY) when we first moved in 6 years ago. It was very restful and serene...
Just not really me!
Actually, truth be told, I'm not that in touch with my decorating feelings... I work mostly with what I've already collected and rearrange them adding minimal new pieces...  I'm a bit too frugal I sometimes think... It wasn't until I actually bumped into the fabric below at JoAnnes that I knew I needed more color in my bedroom. I feel dumb now, as it really needed this to tie my bedroom into the master bath, which is a deep robin's egg blue with dark wood dresser and hutch... Since I love coral pink that's all I'd added prior to seeing this fabric. LIGHTBULB!

So I dug through my crap room and found these old shades I'd been keeping for some important project.  After only a few new glue gun scars, I'm very pleased to have new lampshades beside our bed! Will use the scraps to make a toss pillow on my bed ~ soon as I can find the power cord to my sewing machine!

I'm still working on a few more projects (ironically painting things white)...

Which all together help tie in better with this...
(Scuze the still unfinished floors/lack of baseboard trim.)

The little rose n blue matchbox says Betty + Jim and was made for my Grandparents when they married!

Funny, when one of my favorite bloggers, Cindy@Cottage Instincts posted about her Blue n Brown Blog Bonanza, I didn't think I had very much in my house. After looking around I found my new treasured milking stool...

and these on my entertainment cabinet!

And of course the little cowboy's room
(still due for it's own post)!

And to think, I never really thought I liked blue n brown!

Drop bye Cindy's to see a bunch more beautiful blue n brown!

I love your bathroom and I didn't even notice the still to be finished baseboards. My eye was drawn to those lovely walls and that sweet chair!

Such a welcoming home and so peaceful!!!
I painted our front door today...the owners may not be pleased, but I had to have some color...not having my own to paint was driving me crazy...so I will re-paint it when we move out...I painted it blue! I just love coming through it now!
Have a great week!!

Look at you, Crafty Cathy! We pretty much finished decorating our bedroom when we moved in. I still keep eyeing the living room, though, trying to figure out how to make it work better. But using actual fabric...oh my goodness! :D

Beautiful color palette. You have some very gorgeous tchotkes too. My living room palette is very similar - minus the coral. Hubby won't do the pink.

Love that aqua basket with the brown suitcases! And the stool? Yum. Your bathroom wall color is amazing...so farmhousey and vintagey and sets off the floors and the pictures perfectly.

Thanks for sharing at my B&B linky party!
