"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." — E.B. White

About me

Welcome! I'm Leslie and I'm blessed to live in a gorgeous region of north central Maryland.  My hubby, "The Farmer" and I both grew up inside the Washington D.C. beltway. In 2004 , with a newborn daughter, we bought this nearly 200 y.o. falling down 115 acre farm, scheduled to be bulldozed, scaring our families to death!

After a TON of DIY work, with a very tight budget, we are both truly now living our dream. I'm not even sure how to describe myself anymore. In my past life I'd of said "horse trainer" w/out missing a beat. Now that I'm a late in life mommy to two small children, and wife/partner to a conractor/builder/farmer, renovating an ancient brick farmhouse with acres of critters n crops, it doesn't seem that simple! I'm fortunate to have travelled abroad quite a bit in my youth, and maybe for that reason, am now the biggest homebody/nester. This farm and my beautiful family are the answer to many prayers over many years and, most days, life here IS my vacation.

I'm chock full of ideas n projects for myself and our farm. I love all things old, organic or original. A little bit country and a little bit rock n roll. Maybe more accurately a little bit preppy n plaid and little bit gypsy n junky.
Prone to run on sentences and talking too much. Clearly, a talentless and wanna be artist who'll settle for fun DIY projects and crafting w/my kiddies.

I love nurturing all that grows here on our farm and trying to share it with others more removed from country life.
