"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." — E.B. White

Barn Sale

Seems I'm always bringing home too many vintage lovelies (known as junk to most hubbies) that get stashed in our big yellow barn & overflow the outbuildings. As The Farmer's hay business has taken off, we have territory wars over the barn loft more frequently.

I can't help it. I have a sickness. "Junkitis." I still can't get over the awesome old farm auctions and estate sales in our area. I just wish we didn't see so many beautiful old farms carved up for subdivisions. They've always been "dates" for the farmer and me (going to TSC w/out the kiddies is another). Yeah, we're pitiful, we know. Maybe soon I'll have the 200 yo old hog barn rehabbed as I've dreamed... What a cute shop/lounge it will be! Mmm, walls made of old tin, doors, porch column bookcases and misc salvage... A cool old enamel topped coffee station... Big comfy chairs or bistro sets to sit n read an old  book... Sets my heart a flutter just thinkin bout it.

Here's a preview of some of my fun finds. I have a passion for vintage kid or kitchen stuff especially, but like a magpie pick up anything that catches my eye... Even extra china cabinets, beds, chairs... Yikes!

I keep intending to start selling with Ebay n Etsy. Wish I weren't so intimidated (and busy)! Maybe soon we'll get my "shop" finished and you can just stop in and "pick" for yourself.
I love to meet fellow junkers. If you're in MD please give me a holler!

I better get moving if I want to clear out my sheds and attic before the Farmer makes new hay... He sees my prized junk as trash!  ;-0
Maybe I'll let him listen to Oscar The Grouch from Sesame Street sing a favorite song of mine...

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here a sneaker that's tattered and worn
It's all full of holes and the laces are torn
A gift from my mother the day I was born
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here some newspaper thirteen months old
I wrapped fish inside it; it's smelly and cold
But I wouldn't trade it for a big pot o' gold!
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I've a clock that won't work
And an old telephone
A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone
And I am delighted to call them my own!
I love them because they're trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love, I love, I love trash!
