Most of my family (in DC) work very very hard in govt. jobs trying to make my American life better. They don't get it when I say that as a self employed person I'm overwhelmed with too much ineffective regulation and don't trust govt to make my world safer.
Between the govt. and lawyers, its amazing I even try to earn a living as a farmer/horse trainer here in Maryland.
It would be waaay easier to just collect govt. money for doing nuthin'.
Or move.
Oops. Stepping down off my soapbox.

Don't get me started.......
Some really good points. Fresh milk is not for me, but anyone who wants to should certainly be able to drink it. Like she said - you can smoke when your pregnant but you can't drink fresh milk????
too much govt is too much govt. I hear ya.
Very interesting. I recently watched Food Inc and was really turned off to supermarket food & meat. One of the farmers in this trailer is also in that documentary. We are now thinking about buying meat from a local grass fed beef farm!

Oh you are preaching to the choir. I was raised with a self-employed Dad where I heard daily about how hard all the regulations were for the business owner. He is now retired and the ones with the wonderful retirements are the ones who had all those government jobs through all the years...slow and steady.
I am a wife of a self-employed and guess who can't get government help when needed...us! After all the years of self-employment taxes etc. we can't get any help...too rich for help and too poor to afford medical care.
I know the farmer has it hard and I am so thankful for what they do. Thank you for always keeping it in front to remind me. I discussed the issue of raw milk recently because of your post. Thanks for educating this city girl more.
Hugs and blessings to your family...have a wonderful summer with the kids.
