"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." — E.B. White

It's in my genes, Mom!

My mom might not be thrilled that I chose to become a "professional" horse trainer, but at least she understands my love of horses.
JoJo at summer camp

As a child, she was blessed to live in a historic home complete with old carriage house and stalls. She's told me stories of riding her broom horse and tucking it in it's stall at night... My very first model horses were once hers...
JoJo, Betsy, Grandma and Great Grandma Edie
And judging from old family photos, she came by it naturally!

She's incorporated riding into her love of travel and life enrichment. She's taken rides around some of the most amazing places... Like the southwest, Egypt and even
China last year!!!

Who knows what the next generation
will do with these genes...
Clearly Sarah takes after her Grandma JoJo A LOT!

Thank you Mom!
You're the best source of inspiration in all areas of my life!
Happy Birthday!!!
Hope the next year holds many exciting adventures!
I love you LOTS n LOTS n LOTS n LOTS n LOTS!

Adorable post. And LOVE the antigrazing reins on the pony. They just can't help themselves.

Great! I also noticed how much the old pictures of you look like Sarah! Like mother like daughter, right?

WOW!!! This is just awesome and so inspiring...what a heritage...not many have that. We just finished watching Secretariat last night and it makes me so want to go live with horses....I did grow up with them at my grandfather's farm...but I learned to barrel race. LOL I haven't been on a horse in 30 years and would love to do it again.
These pictures are great...your passion and love for this is wonderful...your mother's story is just awesome. Like I started...WOW!!!

What a great idea to travel the world and horse back ride everywhere you go! I'm not a horse trainer but I love horses and riding. I have a few girls following in my steps and as I learn about training they are learning right with me. It is so fun to have horses while they are young, something I never had but wanted as a kid. We got a Christmas pony who we think is going to deliver a baby any day now...we are so excited to begin our adventures with the new baby! Thanks for sharing!

Leslie, how sweet! And what a wonderful legacy to be passed from generation to generation.
