This weather is for the birds

Are you snug?

I know that many of my bloggy buds have been hit hard by big snows.

Sadly, we haven't... yet.

Our winter has been c o l d and had frequent flurries but little real snow.

Dear Tammy at Flat Creek Farm has a gorgeous blog and she's outdone herself with this slow motion video set to music of birds at her very snowy feeder!

So far we've only had one snow worthy of real sledding...

And this is how we rednecks do it:

With the old farm truck towing kids through crop fields while Olivia follows!

Holy Hunkering

Hunkering down that is...

What a cRaZy winter, huh?!

Wednesday The Farmer and I went foxhunting and were sweaty and steamy as we started preparations, but soaked and shivering by the time we had all the critters tucked in that night.

Horses were equally confused as we tore blankets off, then threw them back on.

Bathing off mud in the am, hot mashes for dinner!

Monsoon rains led into snow squals...

66 degrees dropped to 26!!!

All this makes for LOTS of extra chores.

Right now I'm pampering my family w/cocoa n cookies,

Kids got a last minute day off from school due to snow!

Love seeing them cuddled up together watching a movie!

but rest assured the critters came first...

The horses are bundled like bugs in TWO rugs!

The goats are snuggling in their straw

'til I woke 'em up!

Only the chickens and guineas appear to be indifferent to these swings...

Time to throw more wood on the fire...

The Farmer works HARD to gather n split ALL our firewood so we pay NO heating bills!

IF I can step over the piles of animals sleeping in front of the woodstove!

Excuse the wood ashes n such from cramming wood in the stove nonstop!

Shhh...cammo kitty doesn't want to be seen sleepin on the job.

Now I'm off to curl up too before heading back out to start chores all over again.

Snowflakes

I know! Can you believe it - 2 posts in 2 days?! I love snow days!

Finally my inside decor reflects the outside.

We've seen few flakes this winter.

Everyone's been waiting to play in the snow.

Nick seeming to forget he's short, fat n old,  says "bring it Olivia!"

Olivia's happy to fight down n dirty n try to knock his stubby legs out from under him

Well, almost everyone.

Do I have to go down there?

Ewwww,  I no likey!

We made our redneck preparations for a big ice storm this weekend

 But were thrilled to find softer snow instead....

PERFECT sledding weather!

I love sledding too and let each kid take a few pics while I played...
